Scholarships For African Americans

Getting a degree and diploma in college is everyone’s ticket to finding a high paying job. With the current situation, not all can afford to go to college that is why there is scholarship programs offered to those who want to continue and get a degree for free. There are some organization that particularly help and give scholarship to minority and African American students. The organization aims to help talented African Americans that cannot proceed to college because of financial problems.  Scholarships for African Americans will be a huge help in fulfilling their dreams and have a high paying decent job in the future.

There are lots of program offering scholarships for African Americans and minorities to choose from, and these are United Negro College Fund Scholarship (UNCF), The Ron Brown Scholar Program, African American Future Achievers Scholarship Program, The Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship Program, and National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Scholarship (NAACP), and a lot more.

The most popular and established organization that gives scholarships for African Americans is the UNCF. They give grants and scholarship money every year to over 65,000 students.  However, not all can apply, only those who have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and financially incapable are allowed. With NAACP, they require undergrads a minimum GPA of 2.5 while for graduate students should have a 3.0 GPA. All students that have been successfully granted should be a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

The Ron Brown Scholar Program, they grant scholarship to only 10 HS seniors annually. These students must excel academically, has a leadership potential, have been doing community service, and financially incapable. Per year, a student receives $ 10,000 for 4 years. Then again, these college students must complete internship prerequisites and finish community service. With African American Future Achievers Scholarship Program, they award students with good academic standing, involve in community service, financially in need, and have exceptional qualities. Moreover, most organizations have deadlines like for UNCF December and February for AAFA.

The same with other organizations giving grants, those who would like to apply Scholarships for African Americans should first fill out a general scholarship application form. The form must be filled out completely and honestly to avoid delay or rejection.  Make it a point to know all the requirements before applying. See to it that you qualify for the chosen program.
